Art and Photography

Introduction to Art

The Art department aims to provide opportunities for students to experience a full range of creative, practical and exciting projects. Our target is that all students reach their potential and have a real sense of pride in their work. Art is a popular subject in the school and the high quality artwork from many of our students is displayed all around the school. Students study basic skills through interesting projects in year 7 and 8 and this provides a solid base for the GCSE course. The majority of students who continue with Art at GCSE achieve very highly in their GCSE examination.

This includes a mixture of observational drawing techniques, painting skills, colour theory, pattern and decorative work. Students are introduced to the wider world of Art including studying artists, art movements and art and crafts from different cultures.
