Year 9 Football Team

The Litherland High School Year 9 boy’s football team have gone from strength to strength this season and their latest success is winning the Echo Challenge Shield. The team had to make it through several rounds before taking on Bebington Sports College in the final, which took place at Walton Hall Park. It was a nail-biting final with Litherland 1-0 down at half time but “Man of the Match” Matty Humphreys pulled off an amazing comeback scoring two goals in the final 8 minutes to take the title.  The boys will now play against Cardinal Heenan or SFX/De la Salle in the Echo Cup final which takes place at Liverpool FC Academy on 14th May.       Captain, Scott Heath, said ‘I’m really proud of all the lads. They have played with such professionalism throughout every match. We’re really excited to be playing in the final of the Echo Cup and getting the chance to play at the Liverpool FC Academy.” We are very proud of them and wish them all the best in the coming final. We will keep you updated of how they get on.
